Yukon Summer Music Camp

Sound Tech Boot Camp

Testing. Testing. Is this thing on? Good, you're hired.

This two-hour class is your crash course in live sound, from the classroom to the stage. In the first hour, we'll dig into the fundamentals: microphones (and why there are so many kinds), cables, mixing boards, signal flow, speakers, monitors, and the art of making a room full of musicians sound good without making anyone's ears bleed. In the second hour, you become the crew. Students serve as the tech team for our daily noon-hour concert series, setting up, sound-checking, and running live sound for real performances by real musicians in real time. By Friday, you'll know what (almost) every knob does, why feedback happens (and how to kill it), and how to walk into any venue and get a band sounding great. Whether you want to be a sound tech, a performer who understands what's happening on the other side of the board, or just someone who's always been curious about all those cables — this is your class.
