A rare opportunity for advanced violinists and violists — particularly Yukon-based private teachers and serious adult students — to study with a Vancouver Symphony Orchestra section principal. Sam will work with each participant on repertoire they're preparing, offering detailed coaching on technique, interpretation, bow strokes, phrasing, and the musical choices that bring a piece to life. Expect deep dives into the northern repertoire Sam loves (Sibelius, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Pärt) alongside whatever students bring to the room. Individual coaching in front of a peer group, with plenty of time for questions and discussion about professional orchestral life, audition preparation, and pedagogy.

Ages 14+. Advanced level (area teachers especially welcome). Bring your instrument and at least one piece you're currently working on, with sheet music.
