Always wanted to learn the violin? This is where you start. Led by Samuel Milner, Principal Second Violin of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, this friendly beginner class introduces the absolute foundations: how to hold the violin and bow, how to draw a clean tone, how to produce your first notes, and how to read basic music notation. Sam brings real orchestral credentials to the class but just as importantly, real experience teaching beginners at St. James Music Academy in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. By Friday, students will be playing simple melodies and will have the foundations to keep going.
