Welcome to the most important seat in the band. In this friendly class, Yukon bass luminary Ragn Royle complete beginners through the foundations of the bass: how to hold the instrument, how to produce a clean sound, how to find the notes you need, and most importantly, how to play in time and support the music around you. We'll work on simple basslines, walking patterns, and the feel that separates a great bassline from a forgettable one. By Friday, students will have the tools to hold down a simple groove and the confidence to play along with others. Open to students on either electric bass or upright — bring whichever instrument calls to you.
